ORDINANCE NO. '76'- �' 30
ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION
12-20 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF
BEAUMONT, TEXAS, BY CREATING THE JOB
OF CHIEF INVESTIGATOR WITHIN GRADE III
OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT; REPEALING ALL
CONFLICTING ORDINANCES; AND PROVIDING
FOR SEVERABILITY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS:
Section l..
That Section 12-20 of the Code of Ordinances of
Beaumont, Texas, is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 12-20. Grades and Classifications in fire
Department.
"All positions in the fire department of the City
are hereby classified into the following grades,
each grade having duties of substantially similar
authority, importance and responsibility:
"(1) Grade I. There shall be eight -four (84)
positioner Grade I, said positions to include
pipemen and laddermen. The base pay of every
fireman in this grade shall be five hundred fifty
($550.00) dollars per month.
"(2) Grade II. There shall be fifty-six (56)
positions in Grade II, said positions to include
engineers, supply officers, investigators and
inspectors. The base pay of every fireman in
this grade shall be six hundred twenty-five ($625.00)
dollars per month.
"(3) Grade III. There shall be thirty-seven (37)
positions in Grade III, said positions to include
-chief investigator, captains, assistant fire
marshall and dispatchers. The base pay of every
fireman in this grade shall be six hundred seventy
($670.00) dollars per month.
"(4) Grade IV. There shall be eleven (11) posi-
tions ince IV, said positions to include
district chiefs, fire marshall and chief fire
alarm dispatcher. The base pay of every fireman
in this grade shall be seven hundred twenty-one
($721.00) dollars per month.
"(5) Grade V. There shall be three (3) positions
in Gra e� V, said positions to include deputy chiefs.
The base pay of every fireman in this grade shall
be eight hundred fifty-two ($852.00) dollars per
month.
"(6) Grade VI. There shall be one (1) position
in,, -Grade VI, said position being training officer.

The base pay of the fireman in this grade shall
be eight hundred seventy-three ($873.00) dollars
per month.
".(7) Grade VII. There shall be one (1) position
in Grade VII, said position being assistant chief.
The base pay of the fireman in this grade shall be
nine hundred ninety-eight ($998.00) dollars per
month."

All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed to
the extent of such conflict.

I.f any section,;'subsection, sentence, clause or
phrase of this ordinance or the application of same to a
particular set of persons or circumstances .,shall, for any
be found to be invalid, such invalidity shall in no wise
affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, and to
such end the various portions and provisions are declared
to be severable.
