OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS: ESTABLISH-
ING PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMITS UPON CERTAIN STREETS, HIGH-
WAYS OR PORTIONS OF STREETS AND HIGHWAYS: BY ADDING LETTER
DESIGNATIONS TO EACH SIGNIFICANT SECTION OF THE ORDINANCE
AND ADDING PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMITS FOR -THE., -SURFACE -ROADS OF SPUR 380 (PORT ARTHUR ROAD) AND AMENDING THE SPEED
LIMITS RELATING TO CERTAIN SECTIONS OF STATE HIGHWAY 105
(SECTION "H"); PROVIDING A PENALTY, PROVIDING FOR SEVER-
ABILITY: AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS:
1.
That Section 37-58 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas,
is hereby amended to read as follows:
Sec. 37-58. Same --Changed in certain zones.
It is hereby determined upon the basis of an
engineering and traffic investigation that the speed
permitted by state law upon the street or portion thereof
described in the schedule below is greater in some cases
and less in some cases than is reasonable or safe under
the conditions found to exist upon such street or portion
thereof, and it is hereby declared that the prima facie
speed limit upon that street or portion thereof described
in the schedule below shall be as therein stated, when
signs are erected giving notice thereof.
S C H E D U L E
In accordance with this Section, and when signs
are erected giving notice thereof, the prima facie speed
limit shall be as set forth in this schedule at all times,
upon that street or portion thereof specified herein;

That any person who violates any provision of this ordinance
shall, upon conviction, be punished as provided in Section 1-8 of the
Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas.''
3.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of
this ordinance or the application of same to a particular set of persons
or circumstances should be for any.reason held to be invalid, such
invalidty shall in no wise affect the remaining portions of this
ordinance, and to such end the various portions and provisions of this
ordinance are declared to be severable.
4.
That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict here-
with are hereby repealed.
