ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ORDINANCE NO.
71-58 OF NOVEMBER 2, 1971, WHICH ORDINANCE
HEREIN REPEALED ORDERED AN ELECTION TO BE HELD
IN THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS, ON THE 7TH DAY
OF DECEMBER, 1971, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING
TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT
PROPOSITIONS FOR THE AMENDMENT OF THE CITY
CHARTER.
WHEREAS, the City Council, on its own motion, did on
the 2nd day of November, 1971, pass Ordinance No. 71-58 ordering
an election to be held in the City of Beaumont, Texas, on the
7th day of December, 1971, for the purpose of submitting to the
qualified voters of the City of Beaumont propositions for the
amendment of the City Charter; and,
WHEREAS, no absentee ballots have been cast in said
election; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council, or a majority thereof present
and voting, deems it in the best interest of the City of Beaumont
and its citizenry to cancel said election and to repeal the
ordinance ordering said election; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1.
That Ordinance No. 71-58, passed by this City Council on
the 2nd day of November, 1971, which ordered an election to be
held in the City of Beaumont, Texas, on the 7th day of December,
1971, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of
the City of Beaumont propositions for the amendment of the City
Charter, which ordinance (Ordinance No. 71-58) is hereby incorpor-
ated by reference in all particulars as fully and as completely
as though copied verbatim herein, is repealed.
Section 2.
The City Clerk is directed to cancel all provisions now
or about to be made with reference to the holding of the election,
including the various notice provisions of said ordinance, and
including the employment of voting machines at the various

precincts, and the City Clerk is further directed to advise the
election officials named in said ordinance of the cancellation
of the election.
