ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE VACATING AND ABANDONING
CERTAIN PORTIONS OF TRAVIS STREET AND HICKORY
STREET AS MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED HEREIN;
PROVIDING THAT SUCH ABANDONMENTS SHALL IN NO
WAY AFFECT THREE (3) CERTAIN EASEMENTS, AS SET
FORTH HEREIN, WH -ICH EASEMENTS'ARE-EXPRESSLY
RETAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT.
WHEREAS, Bob Keith, Trustee, and Mrs. Griffin T. Carey,
in her capacity as Guardian for Thomas Lombardo, Sr., and as
Trustee for Thomas Lombardo, Jr., Roy T. Lombardo and Mrs. David W.
Jackson, and in her individual capacity, have requested that the
hereinafter described portions of Travis Street and Hickory Street
be vacated and abandoned; and,
WHEREAS, said requests have been referred to the Planning
an& Zoning Commission of the City of Beaumont for examination and
approval, and the same have been approved by said Commission;
and,
WHEREAS, it appears to the City Council that it is to
the best interest of the City of Beaumont and its citizenry and
to the benefit of the public that the hereinafter described portions
of Travis Street and Hickory Street be vacated and abandoned;
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONI', TEXAS:
That the following -described portions of Travis Street
and Hickory Street in the City'of Beaumont, Texas, be, and the
same are hereby, vacated and abandoned, and that title to slid

portions of said vacated and abandoned streets shall revert
to and become the property of the person entitled thereto, as pro-
vided by law, said portions being described,as follows:
Being that certain portion of the Travis Street
61.11 ft. wide street right-of-way situated
adjacent to Blocks 18, 19 and 25 of the Original
Beaumont Townsite Addition, City of Beaumont,
Jefferson County, Texas, said Travis Street

right-of-way extending from the present south
right-of-way line of Tevis Street south to the
present northeast right-of-way line of Main
Street
AND
Being that certain portion of the Hickory Street
61.11 ft. wide street right-of-way situated
adjacent to Blocks 18, 19 and 25 of the Original
Beaumont Townsite Addition, City of Beaumont,
Jefferson County, Texas, said Hickory Street
right-of-way extending from the present west
right-of-way line of Cypress Street west to the
present northeast right-of-way line of Main
Street.
Provided, however, that the vacating and abandoning of
said portions of said streets shall not be construed as an
abandonment of and shall in no way affect the following -described
easements which are expressly reserved to the City of Beaumont:
Easement No. 1—There is hereby reserved a general
utility and drainage easement over, across and upon the following -
described portion of Travis Street:
Beginning at a point in the south line of Tevis
Street, said point being 8 feet west of the
northwest corner of Block 19 of the Original
Townsite of the City of Beaumont and the south-
east intersection of Travis and Tevis Streets;
THENCE south parallel
west line of Block 19
Hickory Street;
to and 8 feet from the
to the north line of
THENCE east along the north line of Hickory
Street a distance of 8 feet to a point for
corner, said point being the southwest corner
of Block 19 and the northeast corner of the
intersection of Travis and Hickory Streets;
THENCE south along the extension of the west
line of Block 19 crossing Hickory Street to the
west line of Block 18, continuing along the
west line of Block 18 to the northeasterly
line of Main Street and the southwest corner
of Block 18;
THENCE northwesterly along the extension of
the northeasterly line of Main Street to a
point that is 23.5 feet perpendicular from
the west line of Block 18 to a point for
corner;
THENCE north along a line that is 23.5 feet
from and parallel to the west line of Block

18 and Block 19 to the south line of Tevis
Street;
THENCE east along the south line of Tevis
Street 15 feet to the point of beginning.
Easement No. 2—There is hereby reserved a general
utility and drainage easement over, across and upon the following -
described portion of Hickory Street:
Beginning at a point in the west line of
Cypress Street, said point being 11.5 feet
south of the northwest intersection of Hickory
and Cypress, also being the southeast corner
of Block 19 of the Original Townsite of the
City of Beaumont;
THENCE south along the east line of Cypress
Street a distance of twenty feet (20') to a
point for corner;
THENCE west 31.5 feet from and parallel to
the south line of Block 19, continuing.crossing
Travis Street and being 31.5 feet from and
parallel to the south line of Block 25 to the
northeasterly line of Main Street to a point
for corner;
THENCE northwesterly along the northeasterly
line of Main Street to a point that is 11.5
feet at right angles from the south line of
Block 25;
THENCE easterly 11.5 feet from and parallel
to the south line of Block 25 crossing Travis
Street, continuing 11.5 feet from and parallel
to the south line of Block 19 to the PLACE OF
BEGINNING.
Easement No. 3—There is hereby reserved an easement
for the use of Gulf.States Utilities Company on, over, across
and upon the following -described portion of the portion of
Travis Street vacated and abandoned by this ordinance;
A strip of land 15 feet in width, being 7.5
feet on each side of the following described
centerline:
CENTERLINE entering this tract at a point in
the south right-of-way line of Tevis Street
15.5 feet, more or less, west from its inter-
section with the east right-of-way line of
Travis Street;
THENCE south, parallel to said east right-of-
way line of Travis Street, 300 feet, more or
less, to the northeast right-of-way line of
Main Street.

The easement hereby reserved for Gulf States Utilities
Company is non-exclusive. Gulf States Utilities Company shall
have the right, privilege and easement to enter in and upon and
to erect, construct, maintain, operate, inspect, replace, re-
pair, patrol and remove underground electric distribution
facilities consisting of conduits, manholes, cable, markers and
other fixtures as Gulf States Utilities Company may from time
to time require upon, under, in and across said strip of land.
However, others shall have the right to locate facilities,
including buildings, within said strip of land so long as said
facilities do not unreasonably interfere with Gulf States
Utilities Company's duct bank as presently located within said
strip of land.
