MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF BEAUMONT., TEXAS, ON THE 10TH DAY OF MAY, 1966, AS PROVIDED BY THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A MAYOR AND FOUR COUNCILMEN; NAMING THE PLACES AT WHICH 'SAID ELECTION SHALL BE HELD;-APPOINT-- ING JUDGES TO PRESIDE OVER SAID -ELECTION; PROVIDING THE MANNER OF HOLDING SAID ELECTION, AND GIVING NOTICE THEREOF. WHEREAS, under the provisions of the City Charter of The City of Beaumont and the laws of the State of Texas relating thereto, a regular general municipal election is required to be held in The City of Beaumont on the second Tuesday of May, 1966, for the purpose of electing a Mayor and one Councilman from the First Ward, one Councilman from the Second Ward., one Council from the Third Ward, and one Councilman from the Fourth Ward; NOW, THEREFORE,:BE IT ORDAINED,BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS= Section 1. That in accordance with the provisions of the City Charter of The City of Beaumont and the laws of the State of Texas relating thereto, there shall be held in The City of Beaumont on the second Tuesday in May, 1966, the same being the 10th day of May, 1966, a regular municipal election for said City for the purpose of electing a Mayor and one Councilman from the First Ward, one Councilman from the 'Second Ward,., one Councilman from the Third Ward, and one Council- man from the Fourth Ward, for said City. Section 2. That said election shall be held in The City of Beaumont at the following places, to wit: Edwards School Building; French High School Building; French Elementary School Building; Longfellow School ."1 w Building;,Averill School Building; County Court House Building; George Washington Carver'School Building; David Crockett Junior High School Building; Hebert School Building; -L. R. Pietzsch School Building, Roy Guess School Building;:Amelia School Building; and Sallie Curtis School Building. That all voters residing in County Voting Precincts Nos. 1 and 63 shall vote at the Edwards School Building; that all voters residing in County Voting Precinct, --.No. 2 shall vote at the French High School Building; that all voters residing in County Voting Pre-- ci.ncts-.:Nos. 3 and 8shall vote at the French Elementary School Building; that all voters residing in County Voting Precinct Nos. 4, 5-zand 75 shall vote at Longfellow School Building; that all voters residing in County Voting Frecincts Nos. 6, 7,' 9 and 10 shall vote at the Averill School Building; that all voters residing in County Voting Precincts Nos.'ll and 16 shall vote at the County Court House Building; that all voters residing in County Voting Precinct No. 12 shall vote at the George Washington.Carver'School Building; that all voters residing in County Voting Precincts Nos. 13,-14, 15 and 17 shall vote at the David Crockett. Junior High School Building; that all vo-ters residing'in County Voting Precincts Nos. 18 and 39 shall vote at;Hebert School Building; that all voters residing in County Voting Precincts Nos. 19, 20, 64 and 67 shall vote at the Z. R. .Pietzsch School Building; that all voters residing in County Voting Precincts Nos. 22 and 23 shall vote at the Roy Guess School Building; that all voters residing in County voting Precincts Nos. 65 and 27 shall vote at the Amelia School Building; and that all voters resid- ing in County Voting Precinct No. 62 shall vote at the Sallie Curtis School Building. Section 3. The following named persons are appointed presiding judges and alternate presiding judges for their respective voting boxes, with the authority to select and appoint their own clerks: Edwards 'School, Mrs. _G..C. McClaren, Alternate Judge; Court House,.Mrs. W. C..Ross, Sr., Presiding Judge, J. W. Fears, alternate Judge; George Washington Carver School, W. W. That said election shall be held under,.and the qualifica, tions of those voting thereat, shall be controlled by the provisions of the State laws governing elections. Section 5. That in accordance with the provisions of the laws of the State of Texas, voting machines shall be used for the casting of absentee votes by personal appearance at the-City,Clerkts office. In accordance with the provisions of the laws of the State of Texas; absentee votes by mail shall be counted by a special canvassing board which shall be composed of Ray Gay, Dr. Charles R. Walker, and B. N. Kiker. The Mayor is hereby directed to cause a copy of.this ordinance to be posted in the office of the City Clerk at least twenty (20) days before the day of the election as notice that said special canvassing board is'being used. ,� pryryry � !�! �,'�i Section 6. A copy of this ordinance, signed by the Mayor of The City of Beaumont and attested'by the City Clerk thereof, shall serve as proper and sufficient notice of said election; and the Mayor is here- by directed to cause a copy -of this ordinance, signed by himself and attested by the City Clerk,�to be posted at each of the places herein designated for holding said election, at least twenty (2.0) days prior to the date of holding said election. 1966.
