ORDINANCE NO. 66-35.
ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE LEVYING,
ASSESSING AND COLLECTING OF AD VALOREM AND OTHER
TAXES FOR THE YEAR 1966 FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYING
THE GENERAL OPERATING EXPENSES OF THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT,_AND PROVIDING'A SINKING FUND TO MEET THE
PAYMENT OF ALT, BONDED INDEBTEDNESS OF THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT AND THE PAYMENT OF ACCRUING INTEREST
THEREON; PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT OF OCCUPATION
TAX; AND PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS:
Section 1.
That there shall be and is hereby levied and shall be
assessed and collected for the year 1966, for municipal purposes
only, an ad valorem tax of One Dollar and Eighty Cents ($1.80)
on each One Hundred Dollarst worth of property located within the
present city limits of The City of Beaumont made taxable by law,
which said taxes when collected shall be for the purpose herein-
after set forth as follows, to wit:
For the General Fund $1.36
For the purpose of paying the accruing
interest to provide a sinking fund for
the ,payment of the entire bonded in-
debtedness of The City of Beaumont .44.
Section 2.
That there shall be and is hereby levied and there shall
be collected on all occupations and callings on which an occupa-
tional tax is levied by the Statedof Texas, a,sum equal to one
half of the amount so levied by the State of Texas, on each re-
spective occupation or calling in The City of Beaumont.
Section 3.
If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase,
or portion of this ordinance is for any reason held invalid or
unconstitutional by any court of competent jurisdiction, such
section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase, or portion shall
be deemed a separate, distinct and independent provision and such
holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions
hereof.
PASSED by the City Council this 16th day of August, 1966.
