That Subsection (a) of Section 70 of The Beaumont Plumbing
Code adopted by the City Council on November 21, 1961, be amended to
read as follows:
,,Al(a) Calked Joints. Calked joints for cast"iron
bell -and -spigot soil pipe shall be firmly packed with
oakum or hemp and filled with molten lead not less
than 1 inch deep and not to .extend more than 1/8 -.inch
below rim of hub, .or of-'.;a,type and material approved
in accordance with this code as specified in Section
67.1' xiUx x�_4x No paint, varnish, or other coat-
ings shall be permitted on the jointing material until
.after the joint has.been tested and approved.1t
That Subsection (a) of Section 153 of The Beaumont Plumbing
Code adopted by the City Council on November 21, 1961, be amended to.
read as follows:
��(a) Materials. The building sewer shall be cast-
iron sewer pipe, vitrified clay sewer pipe, concrete
sewer pipe, asbestos cement sewer pipe, plastic pipe
of polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinychloride,-or
styrene rubber may be used on sewer lines where load does
not exceed 50 fixture units."

If any section, subsection,. sentence, clause, or phrase of
this ordinance, or the application of same to a particular set of
persons or circumstances, should for any reason be held invalid, such
invalidity shall in no wise affect the remaining portions of this
ordinance, and to such end various portions and provisions of this
ordinance are declared to.be severable.

.Any person who fails to comply with or violates any provision
of this ordinance, or fails to comply with or violates a detailed
statement or plans submitted and approved hereunder, shall beguilty
of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be punished as provided
in Section 1--8 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas. Each

such person shall be deemed guilty of a separate offense for each
day during which any violation of this ordinance continues.

ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE BEAUMONT PLUMBING
CODE ADOPTED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT ON NOVEMBER 21,
1961, SO AS TO CHANGE.THE REGULATIONS CONCERNING THE
INST ILATION, EXTENSION,.ALTERATION, AND MAINTENANCE
OF PIPINGc, FIXTURES, APPLIANCES., .AND APPURTENANCES
FOR WATER AND SEWERAGE; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY;
AND PROVIDING A PENALTY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS:
1.
That Subsection 16 of Section 36 of The Beaumont Plumbing
Code adopted by the City Council on November 21, 1961, be amended to
read as follows:
2tSection 36. Building"..'Drain. The building drain is
that part of the lowest piping of a drainage system
which receives the discharge from soil, waste, and
other drainage pipes inside the walls of the building
and conveys it to the building sewer beginning three
(3) feet outside the building wall.tt

That Section 53 of The Beaumont Plumbing Code adopted by the
City Council on November 21, 1961, be amended to read as follows:
✓"Section 53• Depth of Building Water Service Outside

of Building. Water service piping shall;be installed
below the recorded frost penetration, but in no case
less than.six (6) inches below .grade for water pipe.rt

That Subsection (a) of Section 54 of'The Beaumont Plumbing
Code adopted by the City Council on November 21, 1961, be amended to
read as follows:
,.;?(a) Parallel. No piping shall be placed parallel
to footing and below the level of the bottom of the
footings. Any piping placed parallel to footings
and within three (3) feet of the building wall, or
within the,excavated area for the building, shall be
cast iron and placed on thoroughly compacted fill,
and be approved by the plumbing inspector.tt

That Subsection (b) of Section 81 of The. Beaumont Plumbing
Code -adopted by the. City Council on November 21, 1961, be amended to
read as follows:
_,,-41(b) Location. Pipe cleanouts inside of buildings
shall be not more than fifty (50) feet apart in hor.
E izontal drainage lines of four (4) inch:Aiameter or
less, and not more than -one hundred (100) feet apart
for,.larger pipes. Line cleanouts which may be rodded
both ways shall .be used whenever possible.tt

That Subsection (c) of'Section 81 of The Beaumont Plumbing
Code adopted by the City Council on November 21, 1961, be amended to
read as follows:
,/"'('C) Underground Drainage. Cleanouts, when installed
on an underground drain, may be extended to or above
the finished grade level directly above the place where
the cleanout is installed; or may be extended to outside
of the building and may be brought to grade -as indicated
above . tt

That Subsection (f) of Section 81 of The Beaumont Plumbing
Code adopted by the City Council on November 21, 1961, be amended to
read as follows:
14t(f) Base of Stacks. A. cleanout shall. be provided at
or near the base of each vertical waste or soil stack.
For buildings.with a floor slab on fill or ground or
with less than eighteen (18) inches crawl space under
the floor, the following will be acceptable in lieu of
a cleanout at the base of the stack: the building drain
may be extended to the outside of the building and ter-
minated in.an accessible cleanout not more than five (5)
,feet outside the building wall and may be brought to
ground level . rt
7.
That Subsections (a), (b), and (c) of Section 126 of The
Beaumont Plumbing Code adopted by the City Council -on November 21,
1961, are hereby repealed.

That Subsection (g) of'Section 126 of The Beaumont Plumbing
Code adopted by the City Council on November 21, 1961, be amended to
read as follows:
'.'O(g) Drips. ,appliances, devices, or apparatus not
regularly classed as plumbing fixtures but which have
drips or drainage outlets, shall be drained by in-
direct waste pipes discharging into an open receptacle,
as provided in Section 129.tt

L.Jhat Subsection (a) of Section 128 of The Beaumont Plumbing
Code adopted by the City Council on November 21, 1961, is hereby re-
pealed.

That Subsection (b) of Section 128 of The Beaumont Plumbing
Code. adopted by the City Council on November 21, 1961, be amended to
read as follows:
✓tT((b) Maximum length. The maximum length of the in-
direct waste to trap shall not exceed fifteen (15)
feet. It

That Subsection (e.) of Section 153 of The Beaumont Plumbing
Code adopted by the City Council on November 21, 1961, be amended to
read as follows:
_,'I"'(e) Exterior cleanouts on horizontal drainage system shall
be not more than one hundred and fifty (150) feet apart
and when under paving or hard surface shall be brought
to grade.1t

That Subsection (b) of Section 175 of The Beaumont Plumbing
Code adopted -by the City Council on November 21, 1961, be amended to
read as follows:
V1i(b) Size of Individual Vents. The diameter of an
individual vent shall be not less than 1211 nor less

than one half the diameter of the drain to which it
is connected except a single water closet may be re -
vented with 12 inch pipe.

That Plate 11 in The Beaumont Plumbing Code adopted by the
City Council on November 21, 1961, be amended by adding the follow-
ing thereto:
"A single water closet may be revented with lilt
pipe. It

That Section 39 of The Beaumont Plumbing .Code adopted by the
City Council on November 21, 1961, be amended to read as -follows:
,/ttSection 39. Change In Direction -- Fittings.
Changes in direction in horizontal drainage piping
shall -be made by the appropriate use of 45 -degree
wyes, long sweep.quarter bends, sixth,eighth, or
sixteenth bends, or by a combination of these or
equivalent fittings. Single and double sanitary tees
and quarter bends may be used in drainage lines only
where the direction of flow is from the horizontal
to the vertical.tt
15.
That Subsection (d) of Section 121 of The Beaumont Plumbing
Code adopted by the City Council on November 21, 1961, be amended to
read as follows:
„tit�(d) Copper Tube. Copper tube shall be supported at
each story for piping 12 inches and over and at not
more than 10 feet intervals for piping 11 inches and
smaller . tt
16.
That Plate 10 of The Beaumont Plumbing Code adopted by the
City Council on November 21, 1901, be amended as shown on the Plate
10 hereinafter set forth.
