ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDI-
NANCES OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS,.BY ADDING A SECTION
TO BE NUMBERED SECTION 10-11.1; PROVIDING THEN IT
SHALL, BE UNLAWFUL FOR ANY PERSON WHILE IN.CUSTODY
AS A PRISONER OF THE CITY TO ESCAPE THEREFROM;
PROVIDING A PENALTY, AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABIL-
ITY.
.BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY .OF BEAUMONT$ TEXAS:
Section 1.
That the Code of 'Ordinances .of Beaumont, Texas, is hereby
amended by adding Section 10.11.1, which said section reads as
follows:
r '??Sec. 10-11.1. Prisoners.- Escape Prohibited.
??It shall be unlawful for any person, while in
custody as a prisoner of the City., either await,-
ing trial or upon conviction of a misdemeanor in
the corporation court, to escape -from such cus-
tody, or attempt to escape therefrom.??
Section 2.
Every person convicted of a.violation of any of the pro. -
visions of this ordinance shall be punished as provided in Section
I
1--8 of ' The Code of Ordinances of Beaumont., Texas.
Section 3.
That if any section, sentence, clause or phrase•of this
ordinance, or the application of same to a particular set of per-
sons.or circumstances, should for any reason be held invalid, such
invalidity shall in no wise affect the remaining portions,of this
ordinance, and to such end various portions and provisions of this
ordinance are declared to be severable.
