ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE VACATING AND ABANDONING
A PORTION OF OREGON AVENUE BET14EEN CALLAGHAN
STREET AND CUNNINGHAM STREET AS MORE PARTICU-
LARLY DESCRIBED HEREIN; PROVIDING THAT'SUCH
ABANDONMENT S_ "SHALL IN NO WAY . AFFECT. CERTAIN
EASEMENT FOR GENERAL UTILITY PURPOSES, DATED
JUNE 25, 1968, AS SET FORTH HEREIN:
�JHEREAS, Lamar State College of Technology has requested
that portion of Oregon Avenue lying between Callaghan Street
and Cunningham Street, as more particularly described herein, be
vacated and abandoned; and,
WHEREAS, said requests have been referred to the Planning
and Zoning Commission of The City of Beaumont for examination
and approval, and the same have been approved by said Commission;
and,
WHEREAS, it appears to the City Council that it is to the
best interest of The City of Beaumont and benefit to the public
that the hereinafter described portion of Oregon Avenue be
vacated and abandoned;
NOW,'THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TE)US:
That the following described portion of Oregon Avenue in The
City of,Beaumont, Texas, be and the same is hereby vacated and
abandoned and that title to said portion of said vacated and
abandoned street shall revert to and become the property of the
person entitled thereto, as provided by law, said portion being
described as follows:
BEING a portion of Oregon Avenue, a sixty (60) foot
right-of-way, between Callaghan Street and -Cunningham
Stre,et and lying in the City of Beaumoint,,Jefferson
County, Texas, and more particularly described as
follows:
BEGINNING at a point in the southeast corner of the
intersection of the most southerly sixty (60) foot
right-of-way line of Oregon Avenue and the most
easterly sixty (60) foot right-of-way line of
Cunningham Street, said point being the same as the
northwest corner of Lot one (1), Block twenty-eight
(28), Lamar Addition to the City of Beaumont;
THENCE in an easterly direction along the most
southerly right-of-way line of Oregon Avenue and
the most northerly property line of Block twenty-
eight (28);of the Lamar Addition to the City of
Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, to a point for
corner, said point being ten (10) feet east of
the northwest corner of Lot twelve (12), Block
twenty-eight (28) of said addition, said point
also being.the southwest corner of the intersection,
the most southerly sixty (60) foot right -of -'way.

hundred (100) foot right-of-way line of Callaghan
Street;
THENCE in a northerly direction for a distance of
sixty (60) feet along the most westerly right-of-way
line of Callaghan Street to a point for -corner, said
point being ten (10) feet east of the southwest
corner of Lot thirteen (13), Block twenty-three (23),
said addition and also being inth:e most northerly
sixty (60) foot right-of-way line of Oregon Avenue;
THENCE in a westerly direction.along the most
northerly right-of-way line of Oregon Avenue and the
most southerly property line of Block -twenty-three
(23), Lamar Addition to the City.of Beaumont, Jef-
ferson County, Texas, to a point for corner, said
point being the northeast corner of the intersection,
the most easterly sixty (60) foot right-of-way line
of'Cunningham.Street and -the most northerly sixty (60)
foot right-of-way line of Oregon Avenue, said point
also being the southwest corner of Lot twenty-four (24),
Block twenty-three (23),.said addition;
THENCE in a southerly direction along the most easterly
sixty (60) foot right-of-way line of Cunningham Street
to the place of beginning.
Provided, however, that the vacating and abandoning of said
portion of said street shall not be construed as abandoning and
shall in no way affect the easement for general utility purposes
granted on June 25, 1968, by Lamar State College of Technology
to The City of Beaumont across property in the Lamar Addition
to The City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas; the rights
granted in said easement for general utility purposes being
expressly reserved.
PASSED by the City Council this day of July, 1968.
