ORDINANCE NO.
ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE VACATING AND ABANDONING
A PORTION OF A TWENTY (201) FOOT ALLEY RUNNING
EAST AND WEST BETWEEN LOTS SIX (6) AND SEVEN
(7), BLOCK TWO (2) OF THE PARKDALE ADDITION
TO THE CITY OF BEAUMONT AS MORE PARTICULARLY
DESCRIBED HEREIN; PROVIDING THAT SUCH ABANDONMENT
SHALL IN NO WAY AFFECT A CERTAIN EASEMENT FOR
GENERAL UTILITY'PURPOSES, DATED MARCH 15,1968,
AS SET FORTH'HEREIN.
WHEREAS, Ideco Division of Dresser Industries, Inc., a Delaware
Corporation, has requested that a portion of a twenty (20') foot
alley running east and west between Fourth Street and the abandoned
Third Street right of way in Block 2 of the Parkdale Addition to
The City of Beaumont, as more particularly described herein, be
vacated and abandoned; and,
WHEREAS, said request has been referred to the Planning and
Zoning Commission of The City of Beaumont.fo r examination and
approval, and the same ha-s:been approved by said Commission; and,
WHEREAS, it -appears to the City -Council that it is to the
best interest of The City of Beaumont and benefit of the public
that the hereinafter described portion of a twenty (20') foot alley
running east and west between Fourth Street and the �bandoned Third
Street .right of way in Block 2 of.the Parkdale Addition be vacated
and abandoned;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY -THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS:
That the following.described portion of a twenty (20') foot alley
running east and west between Fourth Street and the abandoned
Third Street right of way in: -Block 2 of the Parkdale Addition to
The -City-of Beaumont, be and -the same is hereby vacated and:: -abandoned

and that title to said portion of said vacated and abandoned alley
shall revert to and become the property of the person entitled
thereto, as provided by law, said portion being described as follows:
BEING the remaining portion of one (1) dedicated twenty
(20') foot alley running east and west between Fourth
Street and the abandoned Third Street right of way being
located in Block 2 of tlTe Parkdale Addition to The
City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, being more
particularly described as follows:
BEGINNING at the southwest corner of Lot 6, Block 2 of
the Parkdale Addition to The City of Beaumont, Jefferson
County, Texas;
THENCE in an eastward direction along a lineto a point
said point being the southeast corner of Lot .6, Block 2
of,said addition, said line being the rear or most southerly
line of Lot 6, Block 2 of said addition and the most
northerly right of way line of the alley herein described;
THENCE in a southerly direction for a distance of twenty
(20') feet to the northest corner of Lot 7, Block 2 of
said addition for point, said point being in the most
southerly right of way line of the twenty (20' ) -foot alley'
herein described;
THENCE in a westward direction along a line to the northwest
corner of Lot 7, Block 2 of said addition, said line being
the rear or most northerly.line of Lot 7 of Block 2 of said
addition and the most southerly right of way line of the
alley herein -described;
THENCE in a northerly direction for a distance of twenty
(20') feet to the place of beginning.
Provided, however, that. the vacating and abandoning of said portion
of said alley shall not be construed as abandoning and shall in no
way affect .the easement for general utility purposes.granted on
March. l5, 1968, by Ideco Division of Dresser.Industries, Inc. to',
The City of Beaumont across property in the Parkdale Addition to
The City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas; the rights granted
in said easement for general utility purposes, being expressly reserved.
PASSED by the City Council this ///t4 day of May, 1968.
