AN ORDINANCE
APPORTIONING A TAX OF SEVENTY-THREE CENTS ($,..73) ON EACH ONE
HUNDRED DOLLILRS VALUATION OF ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY WITHIN THE LIMITS
OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS, AND A TAX OF TWENTY-FOUR CENTS ($.24)
ON EACH ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS VALUATION OF ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY WITHIN
THE OLD CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS, AS SUCH LIMITS
EXISTED AT THE TIME OF THE ADOPTION OF THE PRESENT CITY CHARTER.AND
THAT PORTION TAKEN IN IN 1923 FOR SCHOOL PURPOSES ONLY, LEVIED AND.
ORDERED COLLECTED BY AN ORDINANCE PASSED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT ON- _THE loth DAY OF SEPTEMBER., A. D. 1936, FOR THE
PURPOSE OF PAYING THS:. INTERBST AND CREATING A -SINKING FUND FOR THE
BOND ACCOUNTS THEREIN MENTIONED, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT, TEXAS:
Section 1
That the tax of Seventy-three Cents U'.73) on each one hundred
dollars valuation of all taxable property within the limits of the
City of Beaumont heretofore levied for interest and sinking fund
accounts, other than school bond accounts, and ordered collected
by an Ordinance passed by the City Commission of the City of Beaumont
on the 10th day of September, 1936, be and the same is hereby appor-
tioned among the various interest and sinking funds as follows:
To the interest and sinking fund of Airport Bonds #1, dated
July 1, 1929 - Nine Mills 0.0090).
To the interest and sinking fund of City Hall Bonds #1,
dated December 1, 1902 - Five -tenths Mills (sd;.0005).
To the interest and -sinking fund of City Hall_&_Auditorium
Bonds #12 dated December 1, 1926 - Three Cents and Four Mills (,'.0340)
To the interest and sinking fund of Fair.Park Bonds #1,

Section 2
That the tax of Twenty-four Cents (x`.24) on each one hundred
dollars valuation of all taxable property within the old city limits
of the City of Beaumont, as such limits Existed at the time of the
adoption of the present City Charter, and that portion taken in in
1923 for school purposes only, heretofore levied for interest and
sinking fund accounts collected by an ordinance passed on the 10th
day of September, IL. D. 1936, be and the same is hereby apportioned
among the various school bond interest and sinking funds as follows:

Section 3
That the City Tax Assessor and Collector is hereby instructed
to pro -rate the said sums so assessed according to the provisions of
this Ordinance, and to so present his statement and report to the
Director of Finance that said Officer may be,able to place all
collections made under said tax to the credit of the proper fund,
and that the same may not be diverted or used for any other purpose.

Section 4
The fact that no apportionment has been made of the
assessments levied to provide for the interest and sinking
fund for the bonded indebtedness of the City of Beaumont,
creates an imperative public emergency necessitating the sus-
pension of the rule requiring ordinances -to be read on three
sept rate meetings before their pvssage, wherefore, said rule
is suspended and this ordincnce,-shall take effect and be in
force from and after its passage and publication.
Passed this the 10th day of September, A. D. 1936, by
the affirmative vote of all members of.the City Commission.

There being no ordinance in effect making appropriations
for the fiscal year 1936-37, as required by the Charter of the
City of Beaumont, and it being necessary that expenditures be
authorized in accordance with the annual budget, creates an imme-
diate public emergency necessitating the suspension of the rule
requiring ordinances to be read on three several days before
passage, wherefore, said rule is hereby suspended and it is enacted
that this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after
its passage and public tion.

assessed and collected, for the year 1936, a school maintenance
tax of 50¢ on each �100.00.worth of property in the territory
taken into the City of Beaumont for school purposes only, by
the City Commission of the; city of Beaumont, by ordinance passed
on the 27th day -of November,- A D.- 1923, and there shall be and is
hereby levied and shall be assessed and collected, for the year
1936, a tax of 240 on each x'100..00 worth of said property to
take care of the interest and sinking fund on the school bonded
indebtedness of the City of Beaumont. Said tax is hereby levied
and shall be assessed and collected for said year on all property
in the territory taken in by the City of Beaumont for school pur-
poses only, by an ordinance passed by the City Commission of said
City, on the 27th day of`November, A. D. 1923, said territory being
known as a portion of what is commonly culled the French School
District.
Section 4
That there shall be and is hereby levied and there shall
be collected on all occupations and callings on which an occupa-
tion tax is levied by the State of Texas, a sum equal to one-half
of the amount so levied by the Str.te of Texas, on each respective
occupation or calling in the City of Beaumont.
Section 5
There being no Ordincmce in effect levying the taxes for
the year 1936) and the taxes for said year will soon become due
and payable, an immediate public emergency exists, necessitating
the suspension of the rule requiring ordinances to be read on
three separate; days before passage, wherefore, said rule is hereby
suspended and it is enacted that this Ordinance shall be in full
force and effect from and after its passage and publication.
