ORDINANCE; .AND DECURING kN =RGBUCY
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont, Texas, has heretofore legally issued
its bonds known .as "'CITE' of Beaumont j,%rharf and Dock Extension and Improve-
ment Bonds 1929, Series A,"' dated March 1, 1931= and.
WHEREAS, Bonds Numbers 181 to 195, both inclusive, and 199 to
.208, both inclusive, in the denomination of 01,000.00 each, aggregating
$25,000.00, are now outstanding general obligations of the City of
Beaumont, Texas; and.
WHEREAS, the holders of said bonds have brought to the attention
of the City Commission of said City the fact that said bonds have been
mutilated; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission deems it advisable to re -issue said -
bonds in order that the holders thereof may market same more readily;
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF BEATBIONT, TEXA.S:
I.
That bonds of the City of Beaumont known as 'City of Beaumont
Wharf and. Dock Extension and Improvement Bonds 1929, Series JL," bearing
date of March 1, 1911, in the amount of $25,000.00, numbered from 181 to
195, both inclusive, and from 199 to .205, both inclusive, in denomination
of $1,000.00 each, bearing interest at the rate of four and one-half d4 D
per cent per annum, payable semi-annually on March lst and September 1st
of each year, both principal and interest payable at the office of the
Director of Finance of the City of Beaumont, or at the office of the
National City Bann in the City of New York, at the option of the holder,
and maturing, Bonds Numbers 181 to 195, inclusive, on March 1, 1952, and
Bonds Numbers 199 to .208, inclusive, on March 1, 1953; be re -issued®

That said bonds, which are being re -issued, shall be in the
same form as the present outstanding bonds above described, which
form is substantially as follows:

municipal corporation in the County of Tefferson, Stateeof Texas, hereby
aclmow7ledges itself to owe, and for value received hereby promises to pay
to bearer ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($l e 000 0 00) 8 in lawful money of the
United States of America, on the lst day of Marche 19328 with interest on
said sum from date of this bond at the rate of four and one-half per
cent per annual, interest for the first year payable annually on the lst
day of Marche 1932, and for each year thereafter payable semi-annually on
the lst day of March and the lst d
i ay of September of each year, in lawful
money of the United States of America, as evidenced by and upon presenta-
tion and surrender of the annexed interest coupons as they severally

This bond is one of a seriez of 600 bonds of the denomination of
One Thousand (Ohl,000m00) Dollars each,, known and called "1fVHARF AND DOCK
EXTENSION AND IMFROVXhAENT BONDS 1929, SERIES A" of like tenor and date,
except as to maturity, numbered from one (1) to six hundred'(600) inclusive

aggregating in amount SIX HUNDRED THOUSAND ($600,000' 00) DOLLARS, said
bonds issued by the City of Beaumont for the purpose of making permanent
j city improvements, to wit: For the purpose of acquiring additional
j necessary sites for wharves .and docks for the City of Beaumont, and im-
proving and equipping the same®
Said bonds are issued under and by virtue of the Constitution and
laws of the State of Texas, and the Charter of the City of Beaumont
adopted on the 30th day of December A- D_ 1919,

ity granted by Sections 18 and 71 of said City C

visions in said Charter pertaining to the issuance of bonds, and by Chapter
147 of the General Lavas of the State of Texas passed .by the 33rd Legis-
lature at its regular sessions granting certain powers to cities of more
than 5000 inhabitants and by Chapter 9, Acts of the Regular Session of the
37th Legislatures and all amendments thereto, and all other laws of the

That said bonds shall be signed by the present Mayors countersigned and
attested by the present City Clerk, and registered. by the present
Director of Finance of the City of Beaumont, and the interest coupons
attached to said bonds shall be signed with the facsimile signatures off'
the present Mayor and City Clerk of said City of Beaumont.

That said bonds shall be submitted to the Attorney General of the
State of Texas for his approval, and after the approval thereof, same shall
be submitted to the Comptroller of Public Accounts of the State of Texas
for registration.

The State Comptroller is hereby authorized to register said bonds
when the original "City of Beaumont Wharf and mock Extension and Improvemer_i
Bonds 1929; Series A,ff, in the amount of X25,000.00, Numbers 181 to 195,
both inclusive, and 199 to 208, both inclusive, have been surrendered to
him by Fenner & Beane, Houston, Texas, and is further authorized to deliver
the new bonds to Fenner 8% Beane after registration thereof,
V.T.
The importance of this measure, and its intent and purpose being
declared to be for the immediate benefit of the public business of the
City of Beaumont, constitutes an emergency and an imperative necessity that
the rule requiring ordinances to be read at more than one meeting of the
City Commission, be suspended, and it is ordained that this ordinance take
effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval.
