BE IT ORDi'INED BY THE CITY COYIMISSION OF THE CITY
OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS:
Section 1
That there shall be and is hereby levied and shall be
assessed and collected, for the year 1939 an ad valorem tax
of Two and 55/100 Dollars ($2.55) on each one hundred dollars
worth of property in the City of Beaumont located within the
territory comprising the old city limits existing prior to the
adoption of the present City Charter and comprising the Beaumont
Independent School District in the City of Beaumont, made taxable
by law, which said taxes when collected shall be, according to
Section 16 of the Charter of the City of Beaumont, apportioned
among the funds and departments of the City Government, of the
City of Beaumont, and for the purposes as hereinafter set forth,
as follows, to -wit;

Section 2
That there shall be and is hereby levied and shall be
assessed and collected, for the year 1939, an ad valorem tax of
One and 78/100 Dollars ($1.78) on each one hundred dollars worth
of property located within and comprising that portion -of the
City of Beaumont lying outside of the old city limits described
in Section 1 hereof, in the City of Beaumont made taxable by law,
which said taxes when collected shall be, according to Section
16 of the Charter of the Gity of Beaumont, apportioned among the
funds and departments of the City Government of the City of
Beaumont, and for the purposes hereinafter set forth, as follows,

Section 3
That there shall be and is hereby levied and shall be.
assessed and collected, for the year -1939, a school maintenance
tax of 50.¢ on each $100.00 worth of property in the territory
taken into the City of Beaumont for school purposes only, by
the City Commission of the City of'Beaumont, by ordinance passed
on the 27th day of November, A. D. 1923, and there shall be and is
hereby levied and shall be assessed and collected, for the year
1939, a tax of 27¢ on each $100.00 worth of said property to
take care of the interest and sinking fund on the school bonded
inddbtedness of the City of Beaumont. Said tax is hereby levied
and shall be assessed and collected for sai� year on all property
in the territory taken in by the City of Beaumont for school pur-
poses only, by an ordinance passed by the City Gommission of said
City, on the 27th day of November, A.D. 1923, said territory being
known as a portion of what is commonly called the French School
District.
Section 4
That there shall be and is hereby levied and there shall
be collected on all occupations and callings on which an occupa-
tion tax is levied by the State of Texas, a sum equal to one-half
of the amount so levied by the State of Texas, on each respective
occupation or calling in the City'of Beaumont.
Section 5
There being no Ordinance in effect levying the taxes for
the year 1939, and the taxes for said year will soon bacome due
and payable, an Lmnediate public emergency exists, necessitating
the suspension of the rule requiring ordinances to be read on'.
three separate days before passage, wherefore, said rule is hereby
suspended and it is enacted that this Ordinance shall be in full
force and .effect from and after its passage and publication.
Passed this the 26th day of September, A. D. 1939, by the
affirmative vote of all members of the City Commission.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT, TEXAS:
Section 1
That the tax of Seventy Four Cents (j";;.74) on each one hundred
dollars valuation of all taxable property within the limits of the
City of Beaumont heretofore levied for interest and sinking fund
accounts, other than school bond accounts, and ordered collected by
an Ordinance passed by the City Commission of the City of Beaumont
on the 26th day of September, 1939, be and the same is hereby appor-
tioned among the various interest and sinking funds as follows:

That the tax of Twenty-seven Cents ($.27) on each one hundred
dollars valuation of all taxable property within the old city limits
of the City of Beaumont, as such limits existed at the time of the
adoption of the present City Charter, and that portion taken in in
1923 for school purposes only, heretofore levied for interest and
sinking fund accounts collected by an ordinance passed on the 26th
day of September, A. D. 1939, be and the same is hereby apportioned
among the various school bond interest and sinking funds as follows:

The fact that no apportionment has been made of the assess-
ments levied to provide for the interest and sinking fund for the
bonded indebtedness of the City of Beaumont, creates an imperative
public emergency necessitating the suspension of the rule recurring
ordinances to be read on three separate meetinizs before their passage,
wherefore, said rule is suspended and this ordinance shall take
effect and be in force from and after its passage and publication.
Passed this the 26th day of September, A.D. 1939, by the
affirmative vote of all members of the City Commission.
