Be it ordained by The City Council of the City, of Beaumont: -
That there is. -.,hereby levied and shall here-
after be collected for the year 1904 the fallowing taxes on all property
situated within the corporate limits of -the City of Beaumont,made taxable
by law, to- reit : -
For general purposes,forty cents on each one hundred dollars valuation;
For street and. bridge purposes,twenty cents on each one hundred dollars
valuation;
For public free schools twenty five cents on each one hundred dollars

valuation;
For the purpose of paying the interest and to create a sinking fund for
the pa�nent of the outstanding bonded indebtedness of this city,fifty
cents on each one hundred dollars valuation.
That there is hereby levied on all occupations taxable by the lairs of
the State of T.exas,a sum equal to one half of the amount levied and
collected by the State of Texas on each occupation.'
That there'is hereby levied a poll tax o on each and
every able-bodied male citizen of this city,excepting and exmpting here -
from only those who may be exempted under the Constitution and laws of
.the State of Texas:from a State poll tax.
That this ordinance take effect and be in force from and after its final
