Prescribing in what portion of the City of Beaumont saloons, grog -shops and other places for retailing intoxicating liquors may be conducted and maintained, and prohibiting the conducting or maintain- ing of same out -side of said portion thereof prescribed, and providing a penalty for the violation of said ordinance. BE IT ORDAINED BY '1'T,3E CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: Section I. That saloons, grog -shops and other places for retailing in- toxicating liquors may be conducted and maintained in the City of Beau- mont, Jefferson County, Texas, within the following territory or por- tion of the said City of Beaumont, towit: Beginning at the intersection of Main Street and Cedar Street in the City of Beaumont, Texas, thence south along the west side of Main Street to Washington Street; thence west along the north side of Washington Street to Orleans Street; thence north along the eas4kside of Orleans Street to the north side of Forsyth Street; thence west along the north side of Forsyth Street to Sabine Street; thence north along the east side of Sabine Street to the north side of Bowie Street; thence west along the north side of Bowie Street to Neches Street; thence north along the east side of Neches Street to the north side of Crockett Street; thence west along the north side of Crockett Street to Jefferson Street; thence north along the east side of Jefferson Street to t1he right-of-way of the Texas and New Orleans Railroad Com- pany; thence east with the south line of said Tetras & New Orleans Raile road Co. right=of-way to a point on said right-of-way where the east line of Janes Street, if said Street were extended south across.said Texas & New Orleans R.R. Co. right-of-way, would intersect the south line of said right-of-way; thence directly north across said Texas -ze' A—,Ze- �C & New Orleans R. R. Section II. It shall be unlawful for any person or ptersone, firm, cor- povation or association of persons, or the agent or emplyee of any per- son or persons, firm or association of persons; or the agent,employee or officer of any corporation, under any style or name whatever, to 4 conduct or maintain any saloon, grog -shop or other place for the re- tailing of intoxicating liquors at any place within the City of Beaumont, Texas, except that part and portion of said City included within the boundaries as prescribed in Section I. of this ordinance, provided, however, that any person or persons, firm, corporation or association of persons now conducting and maintaining a saloon, grog - shop or other plane for the retailing of intoxicating liquors at a place within the said City of Beaumont where the same are by this or- dinance prohibited and out -side of that portion of the said City in- cluded within the boundaries prescribed in Section I. of this or- dinance under a retail liquor dealers license authorizing the con- ducting and maintaining of such saloon, grog -shop or other place for the retailing of intoxicating liquors duly and legally issued by the said City of Beaumont on or before the 6th day of May, A. D, 1907, may continue in business at sudz place until the expiration of such license under which such business is now being conducted. Section IIT., Any person or persons, or the agent or employee of any person of persons, firm or .association of persons, or the agent, employee or officer of any corporation, *ho, shall., under any style or name what- ever, conduct or maintain any saloon, grog -shop or other place for the retailing of intoxicating liquors at any place within the City of Beaumont, Texas, except within that portion of said City included with- in the boundaries as prescribed in Section I, of this ordinance and con- trary to the provisions of Section IT, of this ordinance, shall be guilty of a misdemesno.r and upon conviction in the Corporation Court of the City of Beaumont shall_ be fined in any spm, not less than Fifty (50.00) Dollars and not more than Two Hundred ($200.00) Dollars, and each and every clay this ordinance is so violated shall be and consti- tute a separate and distinct offense and shall be punishable by a aep- ara,te and distinct fine of not less than Fifty (;50.00) Dollars and not more than Two Hundred ($200.00) Dollars. shop or other place for the retailing of intoxlcatir_g liquors at a place within the said City of Beaumont where the same are by this or- dinance prohibited and out -side of that portion of the said City in- cluded within the boundaries prescribed in Section I. of this or- dinance under a retail liquor dealers license authorizing the con- ducting and maintaining of such saloon, grog -shop or other place for the retailing of intoxicating liquors duly wid legally issued by the said City of Beaumont on or before the 6th day of May, A. D, 1907, m_ay continue in business at such place until the expiration of such license under which such business is now being conducted. Section M. Any person or persons, or the agent or employee of any person o± persons, firm or .association of persons, or the agent, employee or officer of any corporation, who.. shah, under any style or name what- ever, conduct or maintain any saloon, grog-shcp or other place for the retailing of intoxl.ca,ting liquors at any place within the City of Beaumont, Texas, except within that portion of said City included with - 4n the b.oundariieH as prescribed in Section I. of this ordinance and con- trary to the provisions of Section 11. of this ordinance, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and.upon conviction in the Corporation Court of the City of Beaumont shall be fined in any sum not less than Fifty (¢50.00) Dollars and not more than Two Hundred ($200.00) Dollars, and each and every day this ordinance is so violated shall be and consti- tute a separate and distinct offense and shall be punishable by a sep- arate and distinct fine of not lass than Fifty (050.00) Dollars and not more than Two Hundred (200.00) Dollars. Section IV. That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict here- -with are hereby , upon the taking effect of this ordinance, repealed and annulled; and especially is an ordinance passed by this Council on April 23rd, 1907, on the same subject as this ordinance, on the taking v6 4 9 7 effect of this ordinance, repealed and annulled. Section V. : This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force im- mediately from and alter its passage, its approval by the Mayor and its publication as required by the Charter of the City of Beaumont.
