Entitled an ordinance, granting the right and
privilege to the Eastern Texas Electric Company to abandon
the operation and maintenance of its interurban prop ertie�.s
in and through the City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas
and repealing.an ordinance passed and approved September 17,
1913, granting the Jefferson County Traction Company a fran-
chise to operate the cars of its interurban railway over the
lines and tracks of the Beaumont Traction Company.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE. CITY CORgMISSION OF THE
CITY OF BEA.UMONT, TEXAS: -
I.
There is hereby in. all things repealed, cancelled
and terminated the franchise passed by the City of Beaumont
upon September 17, 1913 giving unto the Jefferson County
Traction Company, predecessor of the Eastern. Texas Electric
Company the right, payer and franchise to connect the interurban.
tra,aks and Lines operating between the City of Port Arthur
Texas and Beaumont, Texas with. the tracks and lines of the
street railway system of the City of Beaumont, Texas, which
street railway system is now also operated by the Eastern
Texas Electric Company; said franchise so passed and
approved upon September 17, 1915.being for a period of
fifty (50) years from January 3, 1911 and during such period
the operators of said interurban railway were by said fran-
chise hereby repealed, given the further rights to operate
the cars of such interurban railway for the carriage of
passengers, baggage, mail and express upon and over the
tracks, switches and turn -outs of the Beaumont street
railway system:. and on, over and across certain designated
streets of the City of Beaumont; and said ordinance or
franchise so passed, which -is hereby repealed further
provided penalties for failure to maintain efficiency of
public service in, upon and over said streets at reasonable

rates throughout the term of' said franchise; and that
the said Eastern Texas Electric Company, who now operates
said interurban as the successor to the rigli.ts including
the franchises with, reference to same., be, and it. is hereby
granted the right and privilege to abandon the operation
of its interurban properties and the maintenance of its
interurban service in, upon and through the streets of
the City of Beaumont, Texas, and the said Eastern Texas
Electric Company bei, and it is hereby granted the right,
privilege and permission to take up and,remove all of its
interurban tracks, switches and turn --outs, provided, however,
that this ordinance shall not be construed to authorize or
permit said Eastern Texas Electric Company to remove, abandam
or cease the operation of any of its street railway properties

This ordinance shall go into, effect from and after
it's final passage and lawful publication as provided in the
City charter.

CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS: -

There is hereby in all things repealed, cancelled
and terminated the franchise passed by the City'of Beaumont
upon September 17, 1913 giving unto the Jefferson County
Traction Company, predecessor of the Eastern Texas Electric
Company the right, paq or and franchise to connect the interurban
tracks and lines operating between the City of Port Arthur

the cars of such interurban. railway for the carriage of
passengers, baggage, mail and express upon and over the
tracks, switches and turn -outs of the Beaumont street
railway systea and on, over and across certain designated
streets of the City of Beaumont; and said ordinance Or
