and n recommending the passage of an ordinance . amlending the amended or-
dinance passed by this council on the.7th day.of November, 1907,

City of Beaumont, regulating the handing of signs in said Citv) beg
to report that it has duly considered said communication, together
with said amended ordinance` an recommended by the Mayor, hereto
attached, marked Exhibit "A" made, .a part;.of this report, ,and your
h
said cormt1ittee recommends that said mended ordinance regulating
the hanging of signs be adopted and duly passed. by this counc?li un-
der the sixsprnsion of the rule.
This 3rd day of December, 1907.
RASpQctfull y submitted,
'Ordinance Committee.
Gentlemen of the City Council: -
On account of the sign ordinance having been dis-
cussed at such great length and amended so often, I lost sight
of the fact that the ordinance as amended and passed at the last
meeting of this Council, permits persons, firms or corporations
to hang only illuminated sign -boards or signs, thereby preventing
those who do not care to put up this kirld of a sign from having any
at all. Had this particular part, of the ordinance been called to
rely attention, before it Tras passed, it would not have met with
my approval. I am of the opinion that every one should have the
right to hang signs, provided their hang them and maintain them
according to the ordinances of this City and approval of the street
and bridge Committee.
I therefore submit the attached ordinance for your
approval, and passage.
