PROPERTY WITHIN THE OLD CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS,
AS SUCH LIMITS EXISTED AT THE TIME OF THE ADOPTION OF THE PRESENT
CITY CHARTER AND THAT PORTION TAKEN IN IN 1923 FOR SCHOOL PURPOSES
ONLY, LEVIED AND ORDERED.COLLECTED.BY AN,ORDINANCE PASSED BY THE

A. D.. 1934, FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYING THE INTEREST AND CREATING A
SINKING FUND FOR THE BOND -ACCOUNTS -THEREIN MENTIONED, AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED. BY, THE- CITY .COMMISSION. OF THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT, .TEXAS:
Section 1
That the tax of Ninety=two Cents 0$:921 on _each one hundred
dollars valuation of all taxable property within -the limits of the
City of Beaumont heretofore levied -.fox' interest and rsinking fund
accounts, other than school bond accounts, and ordered collected
by an Ordinance' passed by the City Commission of the City of Beau-
mont on the z 7 *h day of September, 1934, be and th-e same is
hereby apportioned among the various interest and sinking funds
as follows:

Section 3
That the City Tax Assessor and Collector is hereby instructed
to pro -nate the -:said sums so assessed according_ to the -provisions of
this Ordinance, and to so present his. statement and report to- the
Director of Finance that said -Officer may be able to place all
collections made under said tax -to the credit- of the proper fund
and .that the same may not'.be diverted or used for any other purpose.
= Section 4
The fact that no apportionment .has -=been made of the assess-
ments levied to provide for.the.in-terest and sinking fund for the
bonded indebtedness of the City of Beaumont., -creates an imperative
public emergency necessitating .the suspension of the rule requir-
ing- ordinances to be read on three separate meetings before their
passage, wherefore, said rule, is- suspended -.and .this_ordinance shall
take effect and be .in force from and after its passage and publica-
tion:
Passed this the 7 -k day of September., A. D. 1934, by the
affirmative vote -of all members of -the City Commission.-

AD VALOREM AND OTHER TAXES FOR THE YEAR 1934 FOR THE PURPOSE
OF PROVIDING -A SINKING FUND TO -MEET= THE PAYMENT -OF ALL BONDED
INDEBTEDNESS OF THE CITY OF.BEAUMONT, AND THE PAYMEN.T,OF ACCRU-
ING INTEREST THEREON; PROVIDING- FOR - THE SUPPORT AND MAINTENANCE
OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT PUBLIC FREE SCHOOLS; -TO PAY THE EXPENSE
OF THE DEPARTMENTS OF THE CITY GOVERNMENT, ' AS NAMED IN SAID
ORDINANCE, AND THE GENERAL EXPENSE OF THE .CITY GOVERNMENT; AND
APPORTIONING THE TAXES TO'BE LEVIED TO SUCH DEPARTLIIENTS AND

territory comprising the old city -limits existing -prior to the
adoption of the present City Charter and comprising 'the Beaumont.
Independent School -District in: the. City of Beaumont,made ,taxable '-
by law, which said taxes when collected shall--be,,according to
Section 16, of the Charter of. the City of Beaumont; apportioned
among ' the funds and departments of the City Government, of the

tax of 42¢ on each $100.00 worth of property in the..territory
taken into the.City of Beaumont for school purposes only, by
the City Commission of the City of Beaumont.- by ordinance passed
on the 27th day of November, A: D. -1923, and there shall _be and is
hereby levied and shall: be assessed and collected, for - the -year
1934, a tax of 32¢ on .each x$100.00 worth of said property to
take care -of the interest and sinking fund on. -the school.bonde.d
indebtedness of the City of Beaumont... Said tax is hereby levied
.and shall. be assessed -and collected -for said year on all property
in the territory taken --in by the City of Beaumont for school pur-
poses only, by an ordinance passed by the City Commission of said
City, on the 27th day.�of November, A. -D. 1923., -said territory being
known as a portion of what is commonly called_ the French School
District.
Section 4
That there shall be and is hereby levied and there shall
be collected on all.occupations and callings on which an occupa-
tion tax is levied by the State of Texas, a sum equal to one-half
of the amount so levied..by_.the State: of Texas, on each_ respective
occupation or calling in the City of Beaumont.
Section 5
There being no Ordinance -in -effect levying the taxes for
the year 1934, and thetaxes:for.said year will soon become due
and payable,' an immediate- public emergency exists, necessitating
the suspension of the rule requiring oPdinances to be read on
three separate days- before -passage,- wherefore, said rule is hereby
suspended and it is enacted ' that this Ordinance shall be in - full
force and effect from -and after its passage and publication.

There being no ordinance in effect making appropriations
for -the fiscal. year, 1934-1935,: as required by the Charter of
_ the City of Beaumont., and it.being necessary that expenditures
be authorized -in accordance:with the annual budget, creates an.
immediate public emergency n'eces`sitating .the suspension of- the
rule requiring ordinances to be read on.three several days be-
fore passage, wherefore, said rule is hereby . suspended and it
is enacted that this Ordinance shall be. in full force and. effect_
from and -after its passage and publication.,
