U.O.G. 602.01

The following list outlines the basic vehicle maintenance activities:
Checking Oil
Oil will be checked in cold engines only. It should be checked before starting the
engine or at least 15 minutes after running the engine.
Checking Automatic Transmission Fluid
Fluid levels for all equipment with automatic transmissions will be checked each
Friday.
For fire apparatus, the automatic transmission fluid will be checked after the
pumps have been flushed and the apparatus is returned to its station.
The apparatus will be at operating temperature and checked according to the
instructions on the automatic transmission dip stick.
Vehicle Clean Up
We all take pride in the appearance of our fire apparatus. If equipment can not be
adequately cleaned with a shop cloth, use soapy water, a brush, and a water hose
to rinse the equipment down.
Repairs
Personnel will not purchase or order repairs, or make repairs to any Department
vehicle, equipment or structure unless authorized by the Chief of the Department
or his/her designee.
