ENTRY POLICY - Uniform Operating Guidelines
VEHICLES U.O.G 205.09.
7/99 - NPage 1 of 1
Under ordinary circumstances, we will no longer respond to incidents involving
the unlocking of vehicles with engines running. Exceptions would be where the
vehicle may be in a garage and emitting carbon monoxide, overheating, or
creating some other potential hazard.
As with past practices, we will continue to respond to incidents where children
or pets are locked in vehicles. Every reasonable attempt should be made to
unlock the vehicle with the tools provided. Should entry be hampered and
conditions are warranted, (ie: endangerment of life) the officer in charge will
have the authority to force entry in order to extricate the victim(s).
The fire alarm office is directed to advise callers to phone an unlock service for
typical unlocks. Fire personnel are not to recommend a specific unlocking
service.
