The goal of this policy is to define the standard of care for any patient presenting in labor
(normal delivery).

Institute protocol "203.01A" for all patients.
Prepare for delivery by:
a. Placing mother on a firm surface.
b. Opening & preparing OB Kit,
Prepare for delivery of placenta.
Assist in delivery.
Suction, dry, and stimulate.
Clamp & cut cord:
a. 1 st clamp approximately 6" from baby.
b. 2nd clamp three (3) inches past the first.
c. Monitor for leaking.
4. Document time of delivery.
5. Record APGAR at 1 & 5 minutes.

1. Evaluate the infant with the scale below at 1 minute and 5 minutes after
complete birth:
