The goal of this policy is to define the standard of care for any patient presenting with
seizure activity.
II. Protocol
A, Institute protocol "203.01A" for all patients.
B. Seizure activity may be caused by a variety of problems. It is the First Responders
responsibility to determine if the patient has a previous history of seizure
episodes.
C. Do not forcefully restrain patient, protect from harm.
D. Attempt to place patient in a lateral position to avoid aspiration.
E. Monitor respirations, assist with BVM if respirations are inadequate.
F. Take Glucometer reading. If less than 80, refer to protocol 203.01G.
