WHEREAS, the lawsuit styled United States of America vs. City of Beaumont,
Texas, Civil Action No. 1:15CV201, was discussed in Executive Session properly called
and held Tuesday, April 19, 2016; and,
WHEREAS, the City Attorney is requesting authority to settle this lawsuit;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the statements and findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby,
in all things, approved and adopted; and,
THAT the City Attorney be, and he is hereby, authorized to settle the lawsuit
styled United States of America vs. City of Beaumont, Texas, Civil Action No.
1:15CV201, for the sum of Four Hundred Seventy -Five Thousand and XX/100 Dollars
($475,000.00); and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the City Attorney and the City Manager be
and they are hereby authorized to execute all documents related to settlement of the
lawsuit.
