Stephen C. Foster Sheet Music Collection, 1940s
DESCRIPTION
Stephen Collins Foster, born July 4, 1826, in Pennsylvania, was an American songwriter often known as
the "father of American music" who composed his songs mostly between the years 1846 and 1864. He
was the writer of songs such as "Camptown Races" in 1850, "Old Folks at Home" in 1851, and "My Olc
Kentucky Home" in 1853. This small collection includes copies of his sheet music as well as two
booklets of his music called "Songs of Stephen Foster, University of Pittsburgh Edition" from 1944.
