Olive-Sternenberg Lumber Company Records, 1905-1950
DESCRIPTION
Olive, Texas, was a sawmill town north of Kountze in Hardin County, Texas, in the late 1800s and early
1900s. The Olive-Stemenberg Lumber Company began as the Olive, Stemenberg, and Company in 1875
when John A. Stemenberg of Houston and Sid Olive of Waco founded their firm. They owned the Sunset
Sawmill in Olive and the Centennial Sawmill in Beaumont. On October 17, 1905, Olive, Stemenberg,
and Company became Olive-Stemenberg Lumber Company when it incorporated in Olive, Texas.
This small collection contains photocopies of the Olive-Stemenberg Lumber Company records between
the years 1905 and 1950, including articles of incorporation, bylaws, and director and stockholder
meeting minutes.
