Farm Security Administration and Office of War Information Photographs, 1943
DESCRIPTION
The U.S. Farm Security Administration (FSA)/Officeof War Information (OWI) documented American
life during World War 11 in photographs and these photographs are available to the public through the
Library of Congress. In 1943, John Vachon, one of the photographers for this project, took photographs
of Beaumont and Orange, Texas. These included images of women and African Americans working at
the Pennsylvania Shipyards, International Creosoting Plant, and local nursery schools. This small
collection consists of two microfilm reels of these images from the Library of Congress, as well as
reprints of photographs.
