International Club of Beaumont, 1971-1995
DESCRIPTION
The International Club of Beaumont started in 1972 as an outgrowth from the Altmsa Club of Beaumont.
On March 16, 1972, Eloise Milam—the Beaumont Altmsa Club's International Relations chairman
with the help of Mrs. I.B. Morris, asked Beaumont women who came from eleven different countries to
talk about their experiences. The women involved in the program continued to meet informally after this
first program and in October of 1972 officially organized with the following aims: "to contact and
cultivate understanding and fellowship between foreign residents and Beaumonters, to entertain and help
foreign visitors, and to promote foreign languages" The members of this club were active in social and
civic projects in the Beaumont area.
This collection contains eight scrapbooks of the International Club of Beaumont covering the years 1971-
1995. These scrapbooks document the activities of the Club and contents include correspondence, cards
and postcards, membership lists, newspaper clippings, photographs, and programs.
