THE TYRRELL HISTORICAL LIBRARY
AC -216
The Tyrrell Park Development Records, circa 1934
DESCRIPTION
This small collection consists of the day to day construction of Tyrrell Park. Mr. Frank
Berschler, head of the Beaumont Parks and Recreation was the landscape architect who drew
up the plans for land donated by Captain W.C. Tyrrell. The Civilian Conservation Corps, a
New Deal agency designed to recruit unemployed youths for environmental improvement
work projects, developed Tyrrell Park. This collection shows work schedules and some
photographs dating back to 1934 when the project began. There is also a preliminary sketch
illustrating proposed plan of development for the Tyrrell 500 acres.
