DESCRIPTION
This small collection consists of photographs, newspaper clippings, and a typed manuscript entitled
"Doing Business in Beaumont, Recollections by Roy Towell, Jr. for the Tyrrell Historical Library,
Beaumont, Texas" Roy Towell, Jr. was born in 1915 in Sequin, Texas, and moved to Beaumont in 1940.
His manuscript covers a brief family history and chronicles his involvement with a number of businesses
in Beaumont, Texas, including the Alltight Parking at Pearl and Liberty, Pennsylvania Shipyard, Snack
Wagon, Walley Electronic Supply, Inc., Beaumont Industrial Electronics, Inc., and Beaumont Armature
Works, Inc. These recollections cover the time period of 1938 to 1992. There are 15 photographs of
some of the businesses and people mentioned in his manuscript and newspaper clippings covering the
same topics.
