The Beaumont Newcomers Club was formed in 1963 under the
guidance of the Goodwill Committee of the Chamber of Commerce. The
purpose of the club is to help new residents learn more about their
new home and their neighbors. The club's founding members were
Mrs. P.D. Bagwell, Mrs. Alice Salter, Mrs. San Talley, and Mrs.
C.H. Swann. At the end of the club's first year there were
fifty members; that number jumped to over 200 by 1974 and is
presently at 110. The Beaumont Newcomer's Club has helped many
families adjust to their new surroundings over the last twenty-
five years and continues to this day.
This collection contains six scrapbooks covering the period
1963-1984, a guest register from the 1984 Spring Fashion Show,
and the 1989 Twenty -Fifth Anniversary party. The scrapbooks
contain correspondence, photographs, greeting cards, and newspaper
clippings documenting the club's activities and history.
