The India Association of Southeast Texas was formed in 1987 to
promote understanding of Indian culture within the Golden Triangle
and among the association members. There are currently about
fifty-five member families. The activities of the association
include teaching children about the cultural heritage of India,
Indian history, religious training, geography and languages of
India. The India Association produces a monthly newsletter, nine
of which are contained in this collection. The association also
hosts an annual Indiafest which is a program of folk dancing,
Sanskrit recitals, and classical Indian music. The 1991 and 1992
Indiafest programs are contained in this collection.
