General Type: Scrapbook
Physical Description: One book
Inclusive Dates: 1920-1926
Donor: Mr. Don Kelly
This collection consists of one scrapbook entitled "Plays and
Players, a Theatre-qoers Record" which was published by Barse and
Hopkins, New York. The book has a leather cover and green moire
endpapers. The pages of the book are blank and provide spaces for
theatre programs and ticket stubs to be inserted. The unknown
creator of this scrapbook collected programs from the Kyle Theatre
and City Auditorium in Beaumont and the Prince Theatre in Houston.
The dates of the programs range from 1920-1926. Forty-one programs
have been preserved in this book. Most of the programs pertain to
a series of plays at the Kyle Theatre performed by "Gene Lewis,
Olga Worth and their incomparable stock company." Few clues to the
identity of the scrapbook creator are available as the book was
purchased from an antique dealer. However, the scrapbook creator
often attended the plays with a man named Otis as that fact is
recorded in pencil on several of the programs.
