Central City Development Corporation (CCDC) was a private
nonprofit corporation formed on June 8, 1971, by governmental,
civic, and business leaders interested in revitalizing the
deteriorating central business district of Beaumont. The CCDC
grew out of a Chamber of Commerce economic development study. The
CCDC attempted to protect and insure property values and stimulate
economic growth downtown. The CCDC eventually evolved into the
"Build" program.
The collection is organized by the following series:
correspondence, memorandum, financial statements, budgets, and
minutes. The collection also includes records from the Urban Land
Institute (ULI) visit to Beaumont in 1972. Box II contains
reports for the Beaumont Central City Analysis for the ULI.
General correspondence and memorandum cover CCDC activities and
programs.
