where he became parade chairman for the Rice Fair in 1906-1908; he

President of the Eagles Aerie in 1915-1916.
In 1916, Dr. Diffenbacher entered city politics where he
became a candidate for alderman, 3rd ward, position No. 1, opposing
Mr. S. G. Burnett, who accused Dr. Diffenbacher of anti -union
sentiments; Dr. Diffenbacher was successful in winning all three
precincts in the third ward. On April 2, 1918, Dr. Diffenbacher
became Beaumont's fourteenth (14th) mayor succeeding the ever
popular Emmett E. Fletcher. During his tenure as mayor, Dr.
Diffenbacher's Administration was successful in the inauguration of
the finger print bureau in the police department, creating free
garbage collection, and was credited with purchasing the water
