DESCRIPTION
This collection contains replica transcripts taken from the
Texas Abstract Company during the inclusive dates of 1925-1929.
These transcripts vary from early Spanish land grants located in
Jefferson County and dated in 1834 to the civil minutes of the 58th
District Court in 1929. Other transcripts include general warranty
deeds, quitland deeds, probate records, decree of divorce records,
marriage licenses, affidavits, patents and designation of
homesteads.
This unique collection was made possible through the research
efforts of Mr. Forrest Thomas Green (1909-1990) and his wife Anne
Lee. Mr. Green was an active member of the Jefferson County
Library Commission and Mrs. Green was involved in genealogical
research and a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.
The collection will be of special interest to Texana historians who
find interest in the era when the Spanish Government of the State
of Coahuila and Texas filed their land grant deeds in the small
village of Nacogdoches. These land grant deeds were those issued
by the empresario Lorenzo de Zavalla.
