DESCRIPTION
The Beaumont Sesquicentennial papers are primarily a small
collection of data prior to and during the celebration of the city
of Beaumont's Sesquicentennial year. Other than The Sohn B. Rogers
Company production "One Five Oh!" it does not specifically go into
detail of other events that were conducted during the Fall of 1987.
The scheduling of these events were made by the members of the
Sesquicentennial Commission which selected October 2-11, 1987, to
conduct such events as The First Lady Reception, bicycle races, The
Senior Pageant, and the tour of Beaumont; however, other events
took place prior to that date. The men of the community were
encouraged to grow beards while the ladies dressed in attire of
the late eighteen hundreds and the early nineteen twenties.
This collection consists of a variety of material arranged in
13 folders. The collection's series of correspondence details the
Sesquicentennial Commission's organizing efforts and folder 7
includes the celebration's budget. The researcher may also find
interesting the complete script "One Five Ho'" The collection is
arranged by subject.
