Beaumont Little Theatre Collection, 1933-1935
DESCRIPTION
On June 4, 1925, Mrs. Irvin Bettis and a group of about ten other women gathered at the Hotel Beaumont
and organized the Little Theatre Club. This club was the beginning of the Beaumont Little Theatre. The
first location of their stage was in Mrs. I. Frank Keith's mansion where the Beaumont Little Theatre
played until their second season in 1926. Gilbert Dunbar Williams was the Beaumont Little Theatres
director from 1933-1935. The Beaumont Little Theatre was the predecessor to the Beaumont Community
Players.
This small collection contains newspaper clippings, photographs, programs, and scrapbook pages from
the Beaumont Little Theatre, as well as correspondence to and from Gilbert Dunbar Williams during
1933-1935. Also included are some programs from productions at the University of Wisconsin in which
Gilbert Williams took part.
