The Howard Gardner Papers, 1920-1949
DESCRIPTION
Howard Gardner, prominent Beaumont civic organizer, was Vice -President of the First
National Bank of Beaumont from 1932 until his retirement in 1977.
Newspaper clippings dominate the contents of this collection, describing Howard Gardner's
banking career and his activities in various civic organizations. Photographs, greeting cards,
and program guides supplement the information provided by the clippings. The collection also
contains several folders of individual items removed from the scrapbooks. Fourteen folders are
arranged chronologically according to the following series: Correspondence, Civic Activities,
and Ephemera. The bulk of the correspondence reveals the relationship of Howard Gardner and
his wife Bertha Gardner.
