The Southeast Texas Genealogical and Historical Society, founded in 1970, is a non-profit
organization open to anyone promoting the objectives of the society. The Society works to
promote education, preservation, and documentation of historic records, and make available
genealogical books and publications, and to assist members in genealogical research. The
Society publishes the journal "Yellowed Pages", dedicated to dissemination of source material
and history.
The collection contains four scrapbooks and three folders that span the Society's formative years,
1970-1978. Newspaper clippings from the areas major newspapers dominate the collection;
these articles cover the society's meetings and events. Also included are correspondence,
program guides for the Society's annual conference, and photographs.
The scrapbooks are arranged by volume, chronologically. Some items of unique historic value
have been removed and placed in corresponding folders.
