The firefighter shall demonstrate how to extricate a victim entrapped in a motor vehicle
as part of a team, given stabilization and extrication tools, so that the vehicle is stabilized, the
victim is disentangled without further injury, and the hazards are managed.

You and designated team members, given a vehicle and appropriate rescue tools, will
demonstrate the following evolutions which may be required to extricate an entrapped victim of
a motor vehicle accident:
• Displace the vehicle’s dashboard and/or steering wheel using the appropriate
rescue and/or extrication tools.
You will begin on my instruction to start. The skill will end when you state to me you
have completed all of the identified steps. Do you understand these instructions?

The firefighter shall accomplish the skill wearing “FULL PROTECTIVE CLOTHING
FOR STRUCTURAL FIREFIGHTERS” as required by the Texas Commission on Fire
Protection to include: helmet, gloves, coat, trousers, and boots. The firefighter is not required to
wear an SCBA or hood.
The firefighter will not be allowed to review the performance steps at the time of testing.
