To ensure that equipment is in good working order, it is essential that it is properly
maintained in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. The firefighter shall demonstrate
how to properly inspect extrication equipment utilized at vehicle rescue and extrication incidents.

Given a set of vehicle extrication tools you will demonstrate the proper procedures to
inspect and maintain those tools which may be required to extricate an entrapped victim of a
motor vehicle accident.
You will begin on my instruction to start. The skill will end when you state to me you
have completed all of the identified steps. Do you understand these instructions?

The firefighter shall accomplish the skill wearing “FULL PROTECTIVE CLOTHING
FOR STRUCTURAL FIREFIGHTERS” as required by the Texas Commission on Fire
Protection to include: helmet, gloves, coat, trousers, and boots. Eye Protection shall be worn at
all times during this evolution. The firefighter is not required to wear an SCBA or hood.
The firefighter will not be allowed to review the performance steps at the time of testing.
