The Driver/Operator, given an aerial apparatus, will affectively demonstrate the correct
procedures for engaging the PTO for operating the aerial device and the apparatus pump.

Given an aerial apparatus, you will position the apparatus according to the examiners
instruction. You will correctly engage the apparatus hydraulic PTO and engage the apparatus
pump following the steps in the correct order of the procedure. You will reverse the procedure to
complete the skill. The skill will end when you state to the examiner you have completed all
identified steps. Do you understand these instructions?

This exercise measures the Driver/Operator’s ability to correctly engage the PTO to
energize the apparatus hydraulic system and the apparatus pump for aerial device operation. The
