Given an aerial apparatus with a telescoping aerial device, the Driver/Operator will
demonstrate the ability to operate the aerial device in a safe and proficient manner.

Given an aerial apparatus equipped with a telescoping aerial device, you will correctly
position the apparatus according to the examiners instructions. You will correctly engage the
aerial PTO and stabilize the apparatus in preparation for aerial device operations. You will
deploy the aerial device to the objective issued by the examiner, using the correct steps and
procedures, and following all required safety precautions. The skill will end when you state to
the examiner you have completed all the required steps. Do you understand these instructions?

This exercise measures the driver/operators ability to correctly and safely operate a
telescoping aerial device and to deploy the device to the objective given by the examiner. The
driver/operator will not be allowed to review the performance steps at the time of testing. The
examiner will ensure that all safety procedures are followed and will stop the test if any action by
the driver/operator is deemed to be unsafe.
