Given an aerial apparatus, you will position the apparatus according to the examiner’s
instructions. You will engage the PTO to activate the aerial device hydraulic system. You will
ensure the aerial device is clear of any over-head obstructions. You will stabilize the aerial
apparatus using the correct procedures and following all safety requirements. The skill will end
when you state to the examiner that all of the required steps have been completed and the aerial
device is ready for operations. Do you understand these instructions?

This exercise measures the driver/operators ability to correctly stabilize the aerial
apparatus in preparation for aerial device operations. The driver/operator will not be allowed to
review the performance steps at the time of testing. The examiner will ensure that all safety
procedures are followed and will stop the test if any action by the driver/operator is deemed to be
unsafe.
