The firefighter, given an equipped fire apparatus, a team member, a section of five inch
soft sleeve (soft suction) hose, the appropriate hose adapters, a hydrant wrench and a fire
hydrant, shall demonstrate connecting the fire apparatus to the fire hydrant with the soft sleeve
(soft suction) hose.

You will be given all of the necessary equipment to perform this skill. Your team
member will only be able to receive instructions from you. You will be required to demonstrate
connecting the fire apparatus to the fire hydrant with the soft sleeve (soft suction) hose. You will
be required to maneuver the apparatus into the proper position. You may place the necessary
equipment at the base of the fire hydrant after the apparatus has been positioned. The skill will
end when you state to me that you have completed all of the identified steps. Do you understand
these instructions?

A. It will not be necessary for the hydrant to be turned on as a part of this skill.
B. The firefighter will not be allowed to review the performance steps at the time of
testing

E. Various appropriate adapters
Note: The firefighter shall accomplish the skill wearing “FULL PROTECTIVE
CLOTHING FOR STRUCTURAL FIREFIGHTER” as required by the Texas Commission
on Fire Protection to include helmet, coat, boots, trousers hood, and gloves.
