The firefighter shall demonstrate the proper method of replacing a burst section of 2-½”
hose line. The firefighter shall accomplish the skill in 6 minutes.

While wearing full protective clothing and a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA),
you shall demonstrate the proper method of replacing a burst section of 2-½” or line. You shall
complete the mandatory steps while performing this skill. You have 6 minutes to complete this
skill. You will begin on my instruction to start. The skill will end when you state tom me that
you have completed all of the identified steps. Do you understand these instructions?

All extra equipment to perform this evolution shall be placed 5 feet from the coupling of
the section to be replaced. The extra hose shall be rolled with the female coupling exposed. The
firefighter will not be allowed to review the performance steps at the time of testing.

A. 300 feet of 2-½” hose
B. Appropriate nozzle for hose size
C. Hose clamp
D. Spanner wrench set
E. Hydrant or fire apparatus can be used for water supply
NOTE: The firefighter shall accomplish the skill wearing “FULL PROTECTIVE
CLOTHING FOR STRUCTURAL FIREFIGHTER”as required by the Texas Commission
on Fire Protection to include helmet, coat, boots, hood, and trousers. Gloves shall be
optional. Firefighter will not don face piece or hood.
