The firefighter shall demonstrate and describe the proper method of constructing a water
chute using the “Straight Ladder and Two Salvage Cover” method. The firefighter will have a
maximum time limit of six (6) minutes to complete this skill.

Given two salvage covers and a straight ladder which is longer than either cover, you will
demonstrate the splicing of the two covers and their proper placement on the ladder to form a
water chute to remove water. You will have six (6) minutes to complete this skill. You will begin
on my instruction to start. The skill will end when you state to me that you have completed all of
the identified steps. Do you understand these instructions?
