I. Objective
The firefighter shall properly describe and demonstrate the correct procedures when
working around fire apparatus, to include mounting, dismounting, and other operations in and
around fire apparatus.
II. Instructions – Procedures for Achieving the Objective
Given a fire apparatus, you will mount, dismount and remove equipment from the
compartments of fire apparatus at a simulated fire emergency scene. You will verbally describe
and follow all safety procedures. You will begin on my instruction to start. The skill will end
when you state to me that you have completed all of the identified steps. Do you understand
these instructions?
III. Examiner’s Note
The firefighter will not be allowed to review the performance steps at the time of testing.

C. Miscellaneous tools and equipment
Note: The firefighter shall accomplish the skill wearing helmet, gloves, coat, trousers,
and boots, excluding SCBA.
