Cooper, City Attorney Kyle Hayes, City Manager Tina Broussard, City Clerk The City Council of the City of Beaumont, Texas, met in a regular session on November 5, 2013, at the City Hall Council Chambers, 801 Main Street, Beaumont, Texas, at 1:30 p.m. to consider the following: OPENING Invocation Pledge of Allegiance Roll Call Presentations and Recognition Public Comment: Persons may speak on scheduled agenda items on the Consent Agenda Consent Agenda Mayor Ames called the council meeting to order at 1:30 p.m. Councilmember Samuel gave the invocation. Mayor Ames led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll call was made by Tina Broussard, City Clerk. Present at the meeting were Mayor Ames, Mayor Pro Tern Wright, Councilmembers Coleman, Getz, Pate and Samuel. Absent: Councilmember Smith. Also present were Kyle Hayes, City Manager; Tyrone Cooper, City Attorney; Tina Broussard, City Clerk. Councilmember Smith was absent due to work. Proclamations, Presentations, Recognitions "Dr. Kenneth Evans Day" - November 5, 2013 - Proclamation read by Mayor Ames; accepted by Dr. Kenneth Evans, President of Lamar University, in honor of his Investiture "Municipal Court Week" — November 4 -8, 2013 — Proclamation read by Councilmember Samuel; accepted by Judge Terrance Holmes of Municipal Court, as well as Laura Clark, Chief Financial Officer who is over Municipal Court "National Adoption Day" — November 22, 2013 — Proclamation read by Councilmember Coleman; accepted by Shari Pulliman, Child Protective Services "Alzheimer's Awareness Day" — November 20, 2013 - Proclamation read by Mayor Pro Tern Wright; accepted by Linda Domino and others "Diabetes Awareness Week" — November 3 -9, 2013 — Proclamation read by Councilmember Pate; accepted by Robert Blackburn with District 2 -S1 Lions and others The Mayor announced the passing of a Jimmie Cokinos, who was a political icon of the City of Beaumont. Mr. Cokinos served as Mayor of the City of Beaumont from 1956 to 1960, and then served as City Manager from 1969 -1970.
