ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 6,
ARTICLE IV, SECTION 6-111 (B) OF THE CODE OF
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT TO ADOPT
THE 1987 EDITION OF THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL
CODE AS AMENDED; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY;
PROVIDING FOR REPEAL AND PROVIDING A PENALTY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1 .
That Chapter 6 , Article IV, Section 6-111 (b) of the
Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont be amended to read as
follows:
Section 6-111 (b) :
Conformity of electrical installations with
the applicable standards set forth in the
National Electrical Code shall be prima facie
evidence that such installations are
reasonably safe to persons and property;
provided that the provisions of this article
shall prevail over the National Electrical
Code in case of conflicting provisions. The
National Electrical Code of 1987, adopted by
the National Fire Protection Association, and
all amendments thereof, is hereby adopted,
and the same is hereby made a part of this
article as fully and to the extent as if
copied '_Herein in full . One copy of such code
has been and now is filed in the office of
the City Clerk.
Section 2.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or
phrase of this ordinance, or the application of carne to a
particular set of persons or circumstances, should for any reason
be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the
remaining portions of this ordinance, and to such end the various
portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be
severable.

Section 33 .
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are repealed to the extent of the conflict only.
Section 4. '
That any person who violated any provision of this
ordinance shall, upon conviction, be punished as provided in
Section 1 -8 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas.
portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be
severable.
